The various exhibition spaces are indicated by a kind of
workshop figure. Ordinarily, wood panels of different
sizes pile up outside the portacabins on joinery and
construction job sites. In Chaumont, these piles of wood
refer optically to the temporary use of municipal
buildings as exhibition venues. The panels are simply
placed against walls and can be moved, or even taken
away, by visitors. The panels will vanish during the
festival and find other applications without losing their
true purpose—being part of the festival’s signage.
